MY PERSONAL EATING TRANSITIONS

I decided to present my very first blog page to be about my eating transitions from the past four years. The reason why I chose to start my first Health page is, I want you to see the transitions that I have made over the years. And maybe, just maybe, I can be of some help to you if you are deciding what type of diet may be right for you. If you have any questions concerning this page, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

I must start out with a piece of medical info about me because it is a HUGE part of my transition. In 2013, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, commonly known as MS. My type of MS is RRMS, Relapse-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis. My health was terrible in all aspects of my life for an entire two years from 2013.

This eating transition actually started in 2015 when my mom found this eating plan called Trim Healthy Mama (THM). What I can say about this eating plan is that it did help me with how to balance my carbs and fats, and I learned about the different types of sugars. However, I did not lose much weight, but I did gain valuable knowledge. I was on this diet for about three months, but I did continue to eat with some of these guidelines concerning the portion sizes of the carb and fats.

One thing I did forget to mention earlier about the MS, is how much damage it did to the nerves in my legs. From time to time, I have trouble with walking, and have to use a cane for assistance. So, fast forward to 2019, I had decided to eat a bit healthier like cutting back on sugar, caffeine (coffee only), dairy, and less processed foods. I incorporated more veggies and basically ate only chicken when I wanted meat. I truly wasn’t doing it to lose weight, but to be healthier for my body to reduce any possible leg muscle spasms. I did improve slightly, but not like I wanted. In 2021, my mom was explaining to me the benefits of Intermittent Fasting (IF) and I decided to give it a try. I honestly didn’t think I would be able to do this, for the fact I felt like my body needed protein every three hours to help me combat my chronic fatigue. So, I started off on a low ratio fasting frame and applied it a few days a week, and worked my way up to my goal ratio and applied more days. Fasting did do a wonderful job in helping me not only lose weight but I felt better and less inflammation (pain). I had way less brain fog, more energy, and felt refreshed when I woke up. I will be doing a future post on IF and more in-depth of what it is and all the ways it helps your body.

Now, for my most recent incorporation of a healthy lifestyle, that began in 2022. It all started when my mom saw an advertisement in a magazine that talked about our food supply. She and I watched the documentary, and about halfway through, were already baffled by what we had seen. At this point, my dad had walked in and started watching. The program talked, in detail, about how our meat and dairy are processed, and what they do to those products. Just know that organic and natural is not at all any different than the regular. After seeing not only this documentary, but an additional one, we all decided to become pretty much vegan. My parents went into veganism full force, and so did I. However, I was the one to incorporate meat and fish on occasions. This was labeled as a Flexitarian. (I will be going into more details about this in a future post.) Anyway, when I eat a majority vegan diet, for at least a week, I can tell my inflammation is lower, and overall great results in health. I have not lost weight, but that’s because I love bread and I like to eat late at night. (ha-ha).

So, in conclusion, the vegan and IF has been the best for me, and I will continue to eat more vegan and do fasting, since I have such awesome results with both. I know changing your diet drastically is not possible for all, but slowly making the transition works great for a different approach. I am also aware that diets are different for each individual. I wanted to share my transitions with you to let you be aware that there are better ways to improve how you feel. I believe that a positive change in your diet will certainly reverse most medical conditions, if not all. I hope you have enjoyed this personal post and found it to be of some inspiration.
